In college, summer was my favorite time of year. It wasn’t because class was over, or that it was hot outside.
It was because of FCA. Summer meant CAMP SEASON!!
I love camp. Over my life I have about 20 years of FCA camp experience under my belt. My signature roll is that of the huddle leader coordinator. I have been a HLC, as we call it, at 9 camps in the last 6 years. My roll includes recruiting college students from across the country to be counselors for high school students.
The time and the effort I get to pour into these ladies is some of the sweetest time of my life. Some of my girls are lifelong friends, and I still keep up with them regularly.
You may think that I’m here to tell you about the preparation to do that this year. However, since I am part-time, I have only been able to do summer camp twice in the last couple of years.
So this summer will look a little different. Or a lot.
We have 12 interns with Atlanta Collegiate FCA with us for 8 weeks. I didn’t recruit them. I didn’t have any part in most of their curriculum, but I get to do my favorite thing.
I get to love them.
This summer I get to hang out, listen, be present, cry, hurt, laugh, and show Jesus to these 9 AMAZING female college athletes that are in Atlanta to grow spiritually. (the other 3 are men 🙂 )
I am so excited to have these ladies to my home, in my life, and in my circle this summer. God is so good, even when your heart aches to be in Saint Simons for camp.
Here is where you can help, and I apologize for burying the lead. My day-to-day will increase a bit for the summer. Obviously the time commitment for these athletes is a little more than my usual weekly input. SO I am trying to raise $3,000 by July 1 to be able to put the time in financially.
FCA is a donor funded ministry and we rely on 100% of financial support.
Would you consider investing in these athletes, and giving them a summer to remember, allowing me to come along with them to teach and invest in their hearts and lives?
All you have to do is click “give here” on the homepage.
Thank you in advance, and happy summer time!
